To my mind, one of the best albums of 2009 was The Gossips “Music for Men”, which I loved in part for Beth Ditto’s Blondie’esque mix of punk and disco (Heart of Glass has been one of my favorite songs since the moment I heard it back in the 70′s).  If it had been recorded in the 80′s Blondie’s take on We Three Kings would have been a New Wave classic up there with The Waitresses “Christmas Wrapping.” Today it’s a reminder of Debbie Harry and her band’s staying power.
