TechCrunch is reporting that beginning this week Facebook will allow the publishing of status updates to Twitter. While for years we’ve been able to port our Twitter stream to Facebook as status updates, now we can make our status updates Tweets if we wish.  I’ve assumed, or at least hoped, that this was coming for awhile.  Now it seems to be here.

But my question is which status updates will be streamed to Twitter?  All of them or only the status updates that I have set to the “everyone” privacy setting that was instituted last week?  Is this a real opportunity for Facebook to become the Twitter client of choice or is use of this “feature” quid pro quo for less privacy.  Questions will be answered when this change rolls out to the masses, but the one thing that I can tell you for certain is that there will be a great hue and cry about it from some quarter of the Facebook community.
