LinkedIn For BlackBerry Delayed to 2010
In yesterday’s late Christmas present of LinkedIn 3.0 for the iPhone LinkedIn dropped the following lump of coal for BlackBerry users in the next to last paragraph of the announcement on their blog.
This application represents just the beginning of our mobile efforts in 2010. We’re just putting the finishing touches on our first native application for the Blackberry, and planning a long stretch of mobile products and enhancements in the year ahead.
Yup folks, do not expect a LinkedIn BlackBerry application untill for 2010.
Of course if you remember back a couple months LinkedIn did call the launch of LinkedIn for BlackBerry “one of our most important mobile efforts for 2009.”
And to add insult to injury, the features of the LinkedIn iPhone app appear to be much more robust than what I’ve seen in the screen shots for the BlackBerry application, but then there’s nothing new about that situation.
Back at the beginning of December I listed 3 BlackBerry applications that I was anticipating for 2009. One I’m beta testing and it is fantastic. One really wasn’t promised and LinkedIn has blown their deadline. Now I have something to (sort of) look forward to in 2010.

Did you really mean:
“do not expect a LinkedIn BlackBerry application for 2010″ ?
I’m hoping you meant “until 2010″.
LinkedIn for Blackberry is still one of our most important mobile efforts, and will definitely launch early in the year. While the frustration with the change in timing is understandable, we’ll try to make sure it’s worth the wait.

Adam – you are correct, that should be “until 2010″ and has been corrected. From the activity on the LinkedIn forums there is clearly frustration with the lack of communication from LinkedIn on the application and the release of another application for the iPhone. Over communicate and under promising, but over delivering have been two rules for me in business. LinkedIn would be wise to follow them here.
