Review: Google Sync for BlackBerry
Google Sync is not so much an application for the BlackBerry as it is a utility. It’s sole purpose is to synchronize you BlackBerry calendar and contacts with your Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts and it does that pretty well.
The application home screen keeps you informed about the status of your sunchonization and the data usage, but the real heart of the app is the options screen.
There you set which application to sync (you can pick contacts, calendar or both), whether synchronization is automatic or manually initiated, the span of time for which the calendar is synchronized (between 4 and 24 weeks in advance and 1 to 4 previous weeks) and which calendars are synchronized.
Google Calendar synchronization can also be achieved with the Google Calendar Sync application for the desktop, but Google Sync for BlackBerry appears to be the only way of keeping your Gmail Contacts in sync.
Synchronization takes place in the background and doesn’t seem to impact performance. As a matter of fact the inconspicuousness of the application and my considering it a utility rather than a application that you need to interface with is a testament to how well it does its job. I highly recommend it if you have a BlackBerry and use Gmail and/ or Google Calendar.

How has this app been working for you? The reports of instability really put me off, but I could use the linkage to google calendar for keeping our little company on the same page. Would you call it a poor man’s/SOHO BES replacement?
I haven’t had any stability issues at all. Keeps everything in sync without any problems.
Thanks, I will give it a try after a backup.
