  1. Walking the Walk would require the time to set-up, monitor, research, download, upload, spell-check and everything else one needs to do to create intelligent online musings. And that requires a management willing to let go, invest, and allow the time for their workers to do it. Unless you’re just so damn passionate about it, you can’t help yourself. And you don’t have a need for sleep. I have so much social stuff going on, but none of it is too compelling because I simply can’t make the time to attend to it. It’s like having 15 Webkinz. . . how can you possibly take care of them, AND have a life?

  2. Of course it’s an investment and a commitment, but as we tell our clients it is critical to be part of the conversation with your audience and if agencies aren’t walking the walk then why should they expect clients to follow their advice? Not doing so is just a bit of evidence that deep down agencies feel that the effort does not support the benefit and if I were a client would make me question their experience in the field.

One of the biggest reasons for my blog is just to experiment. With it I can test SEO tactics on a small scale, I can see what audiences respond to, I can try out different social media elements. It’s also expanded my horizons and abilities. In the last year I have met folks, helped and been helped by the community, tried my hand at CSS and PHP, etc. I’m more experienced, knowledgeable and intelligent for it. Wouldn’t you want your agency to be too?
