Web of Things: Connecting People and Objects on the Web

I joined the Web of Things presentation at SXSW midway through after leaving a presentation on Accessibility.  The presentation was by Vlad Trifa and Dominique Guinard and focused on managing real world devices through the internet using readily available technologies.  You can see their presentation below and more details at http://webofthings.com/sxsw

11:14:19 AM: EPC: electronic product code – closed worldwide system for tracking items/ inventory. What else could be done?

11:16:20 AM: RT @anjali28: you can deploy a web server on your credit card!!

11:16:28 AM: RT @anjali28: using URLS to move things. no i am not kidding.

11:16:39 AM: RT @miemo: Demoing the use of simple, existing web protocols to communicate with physical things running small web servers.

11:17:22 AM: RT @miemo: Building access control to WoT based on existing social networks. Again, very clever use of existing systems!

11:18:08 AM: RT @anjali28: Friends and Things (FAT), then using clickscript to power lamps on/off depending on natural daylight available

11:20:32 AM: Time for devices to join the web, trade off features/ performance, great opportunities

11:24:56 AM: EPCIS lots of opportunities to understand product usage, but is currently a closed system.
