WordPress 2.5 Update Graphic Problem
I updated to WordPress 2.5 on Sunday and it really couldn’t have been easier. Made sure that I had the database backed up, updated the files, updated the database and viola a new interface. All plugins seemed to be working, the site looked the same, admin features were upgraded, I was a happy camper.
Yesterday when writing a post on Viigo I ran into a problem with uploading images. The Flash media uploader just kept giving me HTML errors and wouldn’t upload a thing. Following the troubleshooting instructions I reinstalled Wordpress, cleared my cache, restarted the browser, checked to see if I had a plugin conflict, disabled mod_security, and finally had to disable the Flash media uploaded using the No-Flash-Uploader plugin. Ah well, the HTML uploader is basically the same and it works. No great loss.
Anyone else dealing with this issue, do NOT spend hours on ferreting out the problem with your installation and go for the plugin solution, you won’t be missing anything but hours of frustration. Perfection is great, but so is getting the real work done like writing, enjoying the spring weather, being with the family, you name it. No one ever died saying that their biggest regret was that that they never got their WordPress installation exactly right.
