Yahoo and the Associated Press teamed up for the first in a series of polls on the presidential candidates. Some of that data is below, but what I found interesting was this.

Unlike most Internet polls, this one is nationally representative because people are first contacted using traditional telephone polling methods, and are then followed using online interviews. People selected for the study who do not already have Internet access are provided with Internet access for free.

I don’t know if that is a novel approach or not, but clearly it avoids the mob rules and demographic slants that most internet polls have and may reap the benefits of greater access to the interviewees and deeper questioning.
